gauge pod...

hi guys, i know i haven't been on in forever... school's got me straight whipped! i've got a month and a half off before i go back to the grind and i need to get my gauge pod installed. now, when i bought the freakin gauges, no instructions came with. (go ahead and laugh, yes, i am female, and yes i do read instructions! jerks!) anyway, can someone direct me to basic install instructions? i can figure most of it out i think but it'd be nice to have a little help! thanks!

Where are you installing it? On the Pillar, steering wheel, dash, etc. I have 2 in my Neon, a pillar pod and one that is dash mounted. Autometer makes some really nice ones that come with a dash mount so it depends on what mounting hardware you have and where you want to put it. I basically just used same color screws as the pod to mount the one on the pillar and drilled them straight into the pillar on the edges of the pod. The dash mounted one had screws for mounting it.

Also it's a lot easier to pre-wire the gauge and install it in the pod before you mount the pod. Def. plan it out because if you mount the pod and then go to install the gauge and your wires are too short you are kind of screwed because you've already drilled holes.

Oh and welcome back to the site!

Yeah volt is pretty easy, oil pressure is kind of a pain in the butt though.

The gauge installation will be determined on whether or not you purchased electric or mechanical type gauges. So we need to know what type of pod you purchased (what Shuk was asking) and what types of gauges you have, both what they are for and what type of gauge they are (voltage, water temp, oil pressure, oil temp, etc; electrical vs mechanical). Once we have that info we can steer you in a better direction and maybe even find you a diy walkthrough.

Yeah if we know the set-up it will be a lot easier. I would also say check out the Honda forums for the exact gauge write-up because I'm sure there are several DIY write ups for the Civic. I was able to do my volt gauge pretty much myself, just find a 12 volt source like the ignition wire or cigarette lighter and it's a snap, but I found a great DIY guide for the oil pressure gauge on the Neons.org forums, so the specific vehicle forum is always a good place to look.
